I created this website after attending an online Maker Education Conference. I was impressed to see so much talent and creativity in the Make community. I appreciated seeing so many makers post their content online. So although I'm new to being a maker, I thought I'd post my content and ideas here for anyone to use.
I'm an Associate Professor in the Sciences. My appointment combines research, teaching, and extension. In both teaching and extension, I enjoy using innovative tools to help students learn crucial problem solving skills, as well as life lessons in working within a team framework.
I've always called myself the swiss army knife of science. Along with frequent trips to Home Depot and Lowes to inspire my research creativity, I enjoy diving into new technologies. There isn't anything I'm not willing to learn. And if I can incorporate it into building problem solving lessons, then I'll work twice as hard to learn it and use it in my classroom.
It all began with my first trip into an escape room, and I understood quickly, the value of it's use in education. Since then, I've been designing table top escaped rooms for workshops, 1 hour long escape room themed quests for 4H University, and individual projects ranging from paper to more complex computer programming.
